HIP HOP
CHOREO

with Ria Strandberg

I started my dance journey quite typically by training ballet, modern and show dance. Later on I discovered Hip Hop and started training various street styles and have actively part taken and competed in the Finnish street scene since 2015.
HIP HOP
CHOREO
with Ria Strandberg
In my teens I fell in love with K-Pop, especially the performance and creativity aspect of the style. I joined a K-Pop cover group which i trained and competed with between 2018 & 2021.

My own style honours my strong base in Hip Hop, mixing it with certain aspects of K-Pop such as cleanliness and use of ”point moves” when I choreograph.

Currently I´m focusing on my journey as a dancer, choreographer and teacher.
I´m training two K-Pop intensive groups as well as teaching weekly classes. You might have spotted me dancing on the finnish eurovision music videos 2024, and as a backup dancer in festivals such as Ruisrock & Blockfest.
I´m currently touring around Finland as the choreographer and backupdancer for Senya.

Hip Hop Beginners
In this class we will focus on the groove and foundations in Hip Hop.
Groove is the foundation of Hip Hop dance. It refers to the natural bounce and rhythm of the body that connects movements to the beat of the music. Groove gives the dance its flow and style.

We’ll focus on building each students natural groove and practice essential steps and footwork, mixing oldschool steps with new moves.
With each lesson we will build on previous skills learned in class to gradually increase difficulty.

Classes will include:
Warmup section where we will practice bouncing, isolations, waves and generally warm up the body.
Technique, learning new steps and repeat earlier learnt ones to strengthen our skills.
Learn a class choreography that includes recently learned steps and moves. We train the same choreography 2-3 weeks and you’ll have the opportunity to film yourself dancing to document your own growth.

With hiphop classes you’ll learn how to move and grove to music, confidence, power and ultimate swag!

Choreography Intermediate
In this class we will solely focus on learning and executing choreography.
The style in this class is open, but in this case will be a mixture of the styles Ria has trained in.

Depending on the week the choreography will include moves from Hip Hop, Commercial, Waacking, Popping, and K-Pop.

You do not have to have knowledge in all of these styles to attend class. We recommend you to have trained in Hip Hop or Commercial before taking this class.

Class will include:
Warmup/stretch where we go through isolations, waves and key moves for the class.
Learning choreography and slowly through repetition build a longer piece. We will practice the same choreography for 2-3 weeks before switching.

In this class you’ll have the opportunity to film yourself at the end of each class, to document your growth.

After taking this class you will have increased speed in catching choreography, skills in a wide range of moves from different styles, experience in performance and a great confidence boost!
